Abstract

- A single server repairable queueing system with variable arrival, variable breakdown, and
immediate repair is investigated in this paper. Further, the customer is allowed to balk upon arrival if he
finds that the server is in down. The effect of variable breakdown rate, reneging rate, and probability of
balking are analyzed. Using the generating function method, the mean queue length of the system,
system idle probability, and steady-state availability are obtained. Extensive numerical analysis is
performed to exhibit the outcome of the system parameters on the performance measures. It is observed
that during busy periods breakdown is dominated.
