The Role Of Teachers As Agents In Biological Learning In Senior High Schools, Aceh, Indonesia

Abstract

This study focused on the role of biology teachers as agents in the implementation of teaching and learning process. The teachers role is as a facilitator, motivator, driver, educational engineer, and inspirer for students. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the quality of teachers as agents in the learning process based on gender, certification, and college origin. This study was conducted in senior high school class X science in two regencies in Aceh, Indonesia. Furthermore, the samplewas biology teacher teaching in class X science with a total of 20 people, and the instruments used were validation and observation sheets. Thisvalidation was carried out by 4 experts with educational qualifications of 2 doctors and 2 masters. Furthermore, the observation was carried out by the principal of each school where the study was conducted during the biology learning process. The data analysis technique used simple (mean and percentage tests) and inferential (Two way ANOVA) statistical tests with the help of SPSS program. The results showed that the role of teacher as a learning agent in all indicators had good criteria with a percentage of 83.6% (facilitator), 82% (motivator), 76.2% (driver), 74.8% (educational engineer), and 73.8% (inspirer). Furthermore, the results showed that there was no significant difference between gender (0.335> 0.05), certification (0.030> 0.05), and college origin (0.187> 0.05) on the quality of teachers as learning agents.
