Design Of Smart Street Light Protection And Control Using Gps Gsm And Iot

Abstract

Smart cities have some significant benefits in terms of both protection and energy efficiency. In other terms, the street light in town is associated with both protection and energy efficiency. Thus, street lamp is an integral part of the smart cities. Current street lamps, however, lack smart features which increase both threat and energy consumption.

To tackle these issues, this paper proposes a smart street lamp (SSL) focused on fog computation for smarter cities.

The benefits of the proposed SSL are: 1 ) good control, when utilising IOT technology, any street lamp can be controlled independently. 2) Automatic light control, automatically customizable for all street lamps. 3) Autonomous warning on abnormal states, each street lamp can independently report the abnormal status, such as damaged, stolen, etc. Results from the experiment showed that the proposed SSL might increase energy production and reduce risk. And the device proposed to be built by GSM, IOT and Arduino Uno.
