Abstract

In 2020 there was a pandemic caused by the Corona virus. The spread of this virus led to the
implementation of a lockdown policy to prevent the spread of the virus. This policy brought economic activity
to a halt, which affected a country's inflation rate. This study aims to examine the inflation rate in ASEAN
countries during this pandemic and what strategies should be taken to overcome the stalled economic activity.
The method used is descriptive analysis. The results show that the inflation pattern in ASEAN countries shows
the same pattern, namely increasing at the beginning of the pandemic to March 2020 and then experiencing
deflation due to weakening people's purchasing power. The strategy carried out by ASEAN countries also
shows the same pattern, namely by providing tax relief, credit deferral, wage subsidies and providing a stimulus
to business activities.
