Abstract

in this study, surface roughness of aluminum alloy (Al-7024) surface resulting from
the 3 axis computer numerical control (CNC) milling process were studied. Taguchi
method has been used to eliminate traditional procedures that are too complex in use
and improved of surface by using CNC milling machine. Taguchi method consisting
of a series of milling experiments was used in which the milling parameters were
chosen: Tool path strategy, spindle speed and feed rate as control factors. An
orthogonal matrix L9 (34
) was used, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA analyzes) were
performed to determine the significant factors affecting for surface roughness. The
results confirmed that tool path strategy is the most influential parameters on the
surface, the results showed that the best surface roughness value obtained when the
tool path strategy is zigzag, spindle speed (800r.p.m)and feed rate (1000mm/min)
