Abstract

Past literatures revealed that time overrun projects may pose a major threat to the completion of the
project. The aim of this research is therefore to use the Critical Influential Factors (CIFs) Model as a remedy
to avoid overrunning the time of the project in order to boost the investment value of the oil and gas industries.
Nearly four hundred and forty-seven (447) sets of structured questionnaires were administered to oil and gas
companies (owners, consultants and contractors) in the UAE, 309 of which were found to be useful after data
screening. Purpose sampling technique was introduced while Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used
to assess the timely overrun effect of crucial influential variables. The structural model found to be suitable as
it revealed a substantial P-value of the nine key hypotheses which interpreted the fact that crucial influential
factors could overpower the time of the venture. The purpose of this research is to enlighten oil and gas
companies in the UAE from the slumber of executing oil and gas projects to combat time overrun, that results
in cost overrun costs and abandonments of projects
