Shop Beacon: Indoor Location Based Mobile Application for Increasing Customers’ Engagement for a Jakarta Shopping Mall using Gamification

Abstract

Shopping malls in Jakarta has become destinations for shopping entertainment, and
dining. More than 170 malls that caters to different segments of the market
compete in acquisition of visitors and retail business. Developing unique customer
experiences is essential for mall managers and tenants. Improving that experience
is done in this application design and prototyping project by the ShopBeacon
mobile app which implements features for digital marketing and gamification. The
experience in using the app is augmented by location based activities which are
triggered by the placements of Bluetooth low energy beacons placed at specific
locations
