Model Based Design and Simulation of an eCAR Power train in Real World Environment

Abstract

This paper elucidatesthe design of an electric CAR (eCAR) powertrain using Model Based Design (MBD), majorly MBD is used in automotive applications for addressing problems associated with designingcomplex control.The importance for an eCAR is growing rapidly in view of global warming, eCAR is an electric vehicle powered by battery source alone and the entire propelling force required is developed by propulsion motor alone and the driving performance of an eCAR will alter with design specifications. In this paper the architecture of an electric vehicle system which includes battery, propulsion motor, power electronics, controller and drivetrainis modeled using Powertrain toolbox developed by MathWorks Software.The performance parameters like drive range, acceleration rate, charge of battery and fuel economy of an eCAR are analyzed for various drive cycles.
