Determinants of Job Satisfaction: Job or Individual Characteristics?

Abstract

Every employer wants their employees to be satisfied, so that it will increase their productivity and reduce their intention to quit behaviour and absenteeism. Hence, it becomes necessary for every manager to understand the cause and effects of job satisfaction. In this study, we will be focusing on understanding the causes of employee job satisfaction. The study has attempted to examine whether job characteristics (JC) and individual characteristics (IC) have an effect on worker’s job satisfaction (JS). The sample size used in this study is 150 respondents and the data was collected using questionnaire method. The entire questionnaire was collected with the willingness and interest of employees working in the organization. The result suggest that Job characteristics and self-efficacy are significant predictors of job satisfaction (JS).
