Abstract

Women are no doubt upgrading in their educational field in our country India. But their position or status in many of the Government Service Sectors is very poor. It proves that women are unable to acquire equal opportunity in such fields although Government has made many attempts and policies to develop them equally with the men. The reason behind this is the attitude of the people in our society where age old beliefs are still prevailing that women cannot compete with men with regard to leadership in any activities. These beliefs stand as hindrances towards the upliftment of women leadership in any field. The present study attempts to investigate the mindset or the attitude of adolescent students of Udalguri District towards women leadership in Government Organizations. For the study a sample of 60 adolescent students has been taken randomly from the Udalguri District by the investigator. Stratified Random Sampling has been used for the study. The students have been stratified as B.A., B.COM., and B.SC. each consisting of 20 students and further stratified into 10 Boys and 10 Girls in each stream. The study found that there are significant differences in the opinions among the sample students with respect to stream and gender.  Thus the study tries to give some suggestions that would create positive attitude in the mindset of people irrespective of gender towards women leadership in Government Organizations.
