Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the essentials of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) and TRIZ
methodology in product development. The research presents a step-by-step approach in the application of
LSS-TRIZ methodology in the design and development of biodegradable drapes for dental colleges. The
research adopts the TRIZ approach to provide a solution for the problems associated with the treatment
process in dental colleges under the LSS umbrella. A Mixture Design of Experiments and basic statistics are
used to draw inferences. The MINITAB Statistical software is used to interpret the results. During the study,
it is observed that LSS-TRIZ leads to innovative solutions in a spiraling phase and ensures sustainable
development of the product. The study assists in unearthing critical success factors of the LSS-TRIZ
approach to ensure improved productivity and performance of the system. The systematic approach adopted
by the research will help academicians and practitioners to delve deeper in to the field. More research in this
area will strengthen the fusion of new methodologies and provide more insight for the sustainable
development of industries.
