Abstract

Evolving new approaches in technologies, and usage of internet applications has increased the demand of developing new means of data exchange. The wide distribution of network, and the increased coverage of wireless domain, has given a large opportunity in volumetric data exchange over a long range. As with development of new technologies and increases in volume of data exchange, the security of exchanging data is of more concern. New approaches of attack methods and wide open usage of internet has increased the level of vulnerability in communication network. New methods are rapidly been upcoming to offer new security means for data exchange over a wide network. Visual cryptography is found to be one optimal solution in this area. Wherein various cryptography approaches were proposed and applied in security coding, visual cryptography has an advantage of retaining the original image visualization non disturbed, and embedding security measure in provisioning data security. The advantage of visual content intact gives advantage of using visual cryptography in all visual data application, such as imaging applications, video coding, multimedia application etc. The application of visual cryptography in the area of multimedia application and design approaches for its implementation is reviewed, outlining the limitations of the existing approaches in developing security coding.
