Abstract

In the present study, multiplicative decomposition model has been applied to estimate the future
concentration of physio-chemical parameters (Transparency, TP, NO3–N, COD, DO and pH) of Dal Lake.
These parameters are highly sensitive parameters dependent on the rate of change of water quality. Observed
time series shows that there is a prediction of increasing drift for all parameters except DO and transparency.
Our results show that the multiplicative decomposition model is quite capable of water quality forecasting.
Study shows that the quality of water is deteriorating due to an increasing trend for the majority of
parameters and needs severe managerial actions
