Abstract

This research work presents an inclusive study on passive heat transfer techniques using vortex
generator (VG) as an insert to study the effect on heat transfer. The effect of type, geometry, angle of attack
and design of VGs on enhancement of heat transfer rate are mainly studied and discussed. The objectives of
this study is to collect the most thermodynamic characteristics of heat exchangers attained by many
researchers through numerical and experimental investigation and perform experimental analysis using plain
tube with various Reynolds number to observe the behaviour of Nusselt number. In this research it is plan to
study the different parameters of VGs to see the impact on friction factor and heat transfer characteristics
such as position, type, and angle of attack. It is seen that the inserts placed centrally in the tube are less
effective than the inserts which placed near the inside wall of the tube.
