Android Application Based Monitoring System for Solar Street Light

Abstract

In the current era, solar energy has been used widely due to its availability throughout the year in many places and
it is a source of clean energy. One of the most popular methods of harvesting the solar energy is by using
photovoltaic (PV) technology which is applied by most of the solar panels. In this paper, an android based
application monitoring system for solar street light. The proposed system can monitor parameters remotely via
internet connection from the solar streetlight. Application-based monitoring system gives ease to the operation and
maintenance of the solar-powered streetlight by tracking its performance without actually visiting the site. The
system developed used Android application as well as Arduino IDE. The parameters that were monitored are
voltage, battery, temperature, and irradiance. By monitoring the solar streetlight parameters, user can maintain the
system effectively and give proper care to lengthen the lifespan of the device thus conserving valuable resources.
