Static Analysis of Elastically Supported Isotropic Sandwich Plate under Various Types of Transverse Load

Abstract

This paper deals with radial basic function (RBF) basedmesh free method for deflections and stresses analysis of elastically supportedsandwich plates.The displacement field with five variablestrigonometric higher order shear deformation theory (THSDT) is used.A governing differential equations (GDEs) of the sandwich plate is developed using energy principle.Multiquadratic (MQ) RBF based meshless method is implemented for discretizing the GDEs.The present results are compared with the available 3D elasticity solutions and the other results available in the literature. The effects of the stiffness ratio ‘R’, the core thickness to plate thickness ratio, different types of loads and two parameters elastic foundation on the deflection and stresses are investigated. Some new results for sandwich plate considered which may serve as a benchmark for future investigations.
