Abstract

High gain DC converter has a key role in power conditioner for wide range of application. In literature, various
topologies are derived from overcoming the limitation encountered in the existing topologies. This article presents
the various techniques incorporated for the derivation of high gain topologies. Coupled inductor-based topologies
are considered for extensive study to explore the types of topologies derived with coupled inductor. This review
paper also gives the idea to the researchers about the different applications of high gain DC converters and a
selection guide towards intending a suitable and efficient converter for power conversion in the particular
application. A comprehensive review of various applications with operating voltage of the converter is presented.
Finally, a comparison of few topologies with the application is given in this study to have an overview of various
techniques employed to derive the coupled inductor-based topology. This learning will help the researchers to spot
the merits and demerits of the presented inductive coupling based topologies in the literature.
