Abstract

According to recent studies, youth are interested in politics in a general sense but are disengaged with electoral
politics. For example, in many western nations, the legacy media such as television, newspaper and radio do not
inspire the youth. Correspondingly, other results demonstrate the unprecedented and rapid paradigm shift of youth
participation and commitment in political accomplishments vis-à-vis the use of Facebook. The medium offers the
youth an avenue to political information and relate openly with politicians. Nonetheless, studies have not apparently
studied the reason of youth recent change in political involvement and what is the dynamic force for that sudden
change. In posturing these concerns, researchers have advocated that there is need to further study some specific
features on Facebook platform such as interaction with political figures, pattern of usage and diversity in
networking. The research hence found that there is significant relationship between the youth political participation
and Facebook.
